Baby Shower

Can I just say that I think we had the best baby shower on the planet?

Saturday was our shower, we made it co-ed, boys and girls celebrating together. Imagine! It was an amazing celebration to honor Amara. I mean, just look at this cake!

I won't enclose too many photos, lest I burden you with boredom, but suffice to say everyone had a wonderful time. My best friend, Tara, flew out from the east coast. (I've known her since I was 4 years old. We are like sisters. I love her immensely and it was so special that she could be here to celebrate.) Anyway, moving on,....the shower was held at my sister Chris' house and she did a beautiful job, along with Kalyne, who co-hosted, as did all the folks that brought yummy food for all, my other sister, Annie and lots of other helpers. We got some adorable gifts (there was a lot of squealing at the highest octaves, sorry boys) and we got to share time with all of our dearest friends. It really was perfect.

We have a pretty eclectic group of friends which makes the party thing a whole lot of fun. We have our family, our more suburban family friends, our motorcycle friends, our adopter friends (China and Ethiopia)...I mean, truly, how fun is that to see them all having a great time., getting to know one another, all pre-dispositions out the window. I loved it! We were sorry to see it end but we will have the most wonderful, lifetime memories of it. It couldn't have been more perfect.

It is a surreal experience, having a baby shower when you're not pregnant. You have pictures of your child around you, you know you're going to pick her up, but it is still a little dream-like. I can't wait to have her home with us. I need reality.

Sunday was Lionel's birthday so we had brunch at a wonderful place here in town. It was a small group, gorgeous weather and mimosas. DIVINE. Tara left that evening but we managed to get an Ethiopian meal in there with her, later in the evening. It was sad to see her go but she promises to be back after Amara is home. (I'm holding you to that!)

In the meantime, we're tackling the rest of our "gear" list....lots of things to buy. Children bring a whole new level to spending, don't they?
Have a great day, everyone!

I am so in agreement with the coed thing. Much more inclusive.
